This week’s blog post is definitely a little different from what you’re probably used to seeing (but hopefully no less inspiring!). It’s directly relevant to A Better Way, though, so I felt I needed to share it with you. As some of you already know, I am super excited about launching and publishing my first book! It’s called A Better Way: Invest in Rest for God’s Best, and it goes into more depth about everything you’ve come to know A Better Way to be about. You can learn more specific details about my book, as well as how you can partner with me in this, by visiting my GoFundMe page at this link: https://www.gofundme.com/f/betterwaybook
First, though, I want to share more in-depth with you about this vision and assignment God has clearly put on my heart. [But for those of you who just want to “cut to the chase”, scroll to the bottom to see how you can support this book launch specifically through GIVING, SHARING, and PRAYING]
Around early 2015, I had a life-changing revelation of God’s pure grace when I read some books by Pastor Joseph Prince. This radically transformed my view of God and resulted in many astounding life experiences and testimonies, many of which you may have heard through the podcast. This revelation of grace has probably been the single most important revelation I’ve ever had in my Christian walk and my entire life.
I came to Charis Bible College in 2016 with a general idea of the desires God had put in my heart, and a rough idea of what that calling would look like. I had not yet created A Better Way at this time or any official “ministry”/organization, but I had received a revelation that I was called to inspirational communication and personal development. I knew that this would be a combination of writing, speaking, coaching, teaching, and counseling; specifically, in the business and ministry “mountains” of cultural influence.
I had a pretty good idea that this would probably not look like a traditional “full-time ministry” role, such as a full-time church pastor or leader of a 501(c)3 ministry. But God has been showing me over the course of many years that this calling would be no less important or relevant to expanding His Kingdom and spreading the Gospel. In many ways, I believe this can allow God to actually reach more people and have greater impact through me than He otherwise could. I unpack this more in a podcast interview I did with Rich Marshall (ABW 29 - Full-Time Marketplace Missions).
Within the first month or so of attending bible college, the Holy Spirit prompted me to start collecting testimonies in which prayer had made a significant and measurable impact in people’s businesses. My goal was to share the power and practicality of prayer in practical, bottom-line ways that could only be explained by God (I later dubbed this “Where the Supernatural Meets the Practical”). Though I didn’t necessarily have this language for it at the time, I wanted to bring the Word of God to life by sharing personal testimonies as a witness for “lives and businesses that demand a supernatural explanation”!
Through a series of supernatural events that provide such testimonies in and of themselves, A Better Way was born. Now that I’ve finished three years of bible college, I know that this is my life message and calling; and it’s one I don’t take lightly. This has now become my full-time vocation, and I have quite literally invested many thousands of dollars and hours sowing into this.
It started as a website and podcast in 2017, and has now recently expanded to a blog and other social media platforms. But starting back as early as 2008, I have had an inner knowing that God was also calling me to write a book. For many years, I didn’t know what that book would be, but I just kept it “on the shelf” in my mind and heart.
Earlier this year, the Holy Spirit began speaking to me very clearly that now was the time to write this book, which I started writing in March. In the past few months, I have felt a much stronger and almost urgent sense of clarity and conviction that this book needs to be published in the next few months. I don’t know exactly why right now is the time, but I’m certain that God has very specific reasons and timing for this.
I am happy to say that I am now closing in on the final stretch of the rough draft, or “manuscript”. I have a very specific and ambitious timeline to complete this in a few weeks so that I can have the book officially published and launched on February 1, 2020. I am now working with a very well-respected “hybrid publisher”, who will take my manuscript and turn it into a very professional-looking book in multiple formats (hardback, paperback, Kindle, E-Book, and others). This publisher has been extremely successful with all their clients, achieving “Amazon #1 Bestseller” status with virtually all of their books.
It’s difficult to overstate the value of publishing a high-quality, professional-looking book (especially a bestseller). Unanimously, everyone I know who has done this has said that publishing a book is far and away the most critical factor in opening up opportunities, increasing credibility, and expanding their influence. It very often leads to speaking opportunities, coaching and consulting engagements, strategic relationships, and much greater visibility and profitability for their business and/or ministry. Ultimately, for me this means going much deeper and further in sharing the Gospel and expanding God’s Kingdom.
I firmly believe that now is the time for me to publish this book, and I’d like to invite you into this journey with me. In order to launch this book I need to raise about $8,500 to cover the costs of publishing and associated expenses, and I need your support to do it. Just to get started, I need to have the first payment of $3,500 to the publisher by November 30. For those of you who listened to my recent podcast testimony of my very profitable upcoming property sale, you may understandably be asking why I’m now asking for financial support. Two reasons:
Therefore, I am asking for your prayerful consideration of support in these three ways:
Additionally, if you and/or anyone you know have professional experience as an editor, I could use one or two more people to be a volunteer on my “Editorial Board”. This would specifically be for content/structure/developmental editing (not copy editing for spelling, grammar, and punctuation; the publisher will take care of that).
Just like I always try to do on the podcast and blog, I want to invite you into my life to walk this journey alongside me. So, I’ll be giving you regular updates as things progress. I also want to “help you to help me”, and this will make it as easy as possible for you to share those updates to your network with one click of a button.
I want to make sure I give a deep and heartfelt “Thank You!!” to those of you who have already given their financial and emotional support to me for this; your support truly means more than I can express to you in words. I believe that this book launch to share God’s grace with the world will be one more feather in Jesus’ cap!
“Never doubt God’s mighty power to work in you and accomplish all this. He will achieve infinitely more than your greatest request, your most unbelievable dream, and exceed your wildest imagination! He will outdo them all, for his miraculous power constantly energizes you. Now we offer up to God all the glorious praise that rises from every church in every generation through Jesus Christ—and all that will yet be manifest through time and eternity. Amen!” (Ephesians 3:20-21, TPT)
